Elon Musk will leave the Trump administration?
Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is reportedly preparing to step down from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in the Trump administration.
The decision comes as his special 130-day term as a government employee is coming to an end, scheduled to end at the end of May.
Musk’s departure comes amid mounting pressure from the public and political world, according to sources, who have expressed frustration with “unethical and persistent attacks” from political opponents.

President Trump is also said to have internally acknowledged Musk’s impending departure from government and suggested it could happen in the coming months.

During his time at DOGE, Musk has taken a series of controversial measures, including drastically cutting the federal workforce and closing an STI (sexually transmitted infection) research lab amid rising syphilis rates in the US.

Public health experts have strongly criticized these decisions.

Financially, analysts are also concerned. Dan Ives, an analyst at Wedbush Securities, warned that Tesla is on “red alert” if Musk continues to wade into politics, especially as Tesla’s stock price plummets and its brand image suffers.

Mr. Ives also emphasized that Musk needs to refocus on the company’s core operations to overcome the current difficult period.

Despite stepping down from his official role in the government, Elon Musk is expected to maintain a close advisory relationship with President Trump.

Vice President JD Vance confirmed that Elon Musk “will remain a friend and advisor” to the current administration.

CEO Musk’s impending departure from government is drawing attention from both the political and investor communities, as many wait to see how the decision will affect federal policy and Tesla’s future.
